Well, I failed

Needless to say I failed that whole "have a new post every day" thing. Things have been beyond hectic though. This feels like the first time I've moved at a normal pace instead of warp speed in a looong time. Plus my free time has been spent making the Christmas list, and you can't say that isn't worthwhile.

So, in new news, the boyfriend is in Vegas/Utah, and now besides the occasional work, I don't have much to preoccupy my time. It's odd how you don't realize how big a part someone plays in their life until they're gone for awhile. I was going to get some Christmas shopping done while he was gone, but everything I got had to be ordered online or didn't come out yet, so that saves me the hassle of traveling to the mall for a bit (thank god).

In more news, Ohio, or at least the part I live in, is in for some supposedly massive snow tonight. We experiencing some lake effect off of Lake Erie, making it even colder here, with predictions of at least 6 inches of snow overnight and more in the morning and afternoon tomorrow. Needless to say I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.

In the sad news department, American's have chosen to be idiots once again and ban gay marriage. This news makes me sad and infuriated all at once. This country is a place where you can choose any religion you want. Christian, Buddhist, Atheist, you name it. But yet when asked why people opposed gay marriage, the only reason they seemed to be able to give was that the Bible said it was wrong, that marriage should be between a man and a woman, blah blah blah. Well, this is all well and good for the people that follow the Bible, but whose to say that everyone in the gay community does? Church should be separate from state, and gay's should be able to marry whatever person they please. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, you're entitled to your own opinions, just as I am mine. But as American's, we are entitled to the pursuit of happiness, and the government should not try to stop us in our pursuit.

So with that note, I conclude my lovely scatter-brained blog, and I hope everyone's pre-holiday season is going well :]

Winterblunderland

As I'm sure everyone is painstakingly aware, the holiday's are coming up. And with the holidays comes great food, fun times with family and friends, and the always welcome presents. Of course, this also means tight jeans, annoying relatives, and a need for more cash. I guess the opposite of the famous saying is true, for every silver lining, there's a cloud.

I want the holiday's this year to be the best. And I already have tons of ideas to make it the best. Limited money however is going to put a damper on it.

This happens every year. I always have the best gift ideas. I can find ten billion things for everyone on my list. Sadly, I never have enough money to make that happen.

So, this year, I'm going to make budget-friendly holiday cheer. How might I do this you ask? Well, I have a few solutions. Instead of splurging on gifts for everyone and worrying about spending what amount on what person, I'm going to limit the money I spend on gifts and give them some sweet treats on the side, like cookies, cakes, yada yada. Actually, I just found a great book today that shows you how to make cheap but cute food on the holidays. I can't wait to get to the baking/cooking extravaganza.

Happy late Halloween and early Christmas to everyone! :P

A Million and One Apologies

So terribly sorry for not writing anything in about a week (for those of you who care). It feels like everything major has just decided to be given (more like piled on) me, and with every second of down time I couldn't bring myself to pull myself off the couch and come to my computer to type a few lines. Yes, I am that lazy. My laziness is legendary in fact.

So, onto new rants and raves.

I'm extremely fed up with crossing guards. A complete waste of money and, on there part, effort. If you don't know how to cross a street once you're past the age of, oh about,10-12?, then you are having some serious issues my friend. I'm complaining about this because yesterday, while going to pick up my brother, I had to wait at an intersection where there was, you guessed it, a crossing guard. She stood in the middle of the road for 6 minutes (I timed it) waving her little stop sign around. Now I know that some of the people she was trying to get across the street were little kids. But a lot of them had parents with them, so they weren't completely defenseless. Besides, 6 minutes?! Can't the little kids wait a second for the cars to go through? I wasted more gas waiting there then I did on the entire little trip!

On a brighter note, it has begun to snow here in my little town. I love the snow, even more than I do the changing leaves, so be prepared to hear about my adoration for it many more times. It seems a little early to be having snow, but I don't care. I'm just happy to be rid of those 90 degree temperatures. Give me temperatures below zero any day. Though with all this snow, it feels like Thanksgiving or Christmas is coming up soon instead of Halloween. This has caused me to get into the spirit early, and as a result, I've already begun to bake cookies. It's never too early for holiday cookies is it? Well, okay maybe it can be, but that just means double the cookies, double the exercise!

Enough mindless babbling for now. I shall try (really really really try) this time to update at least every other day. Hope everyone is having a good week!

Dah!

Okay, no more day's off for me. I missed sooo much Friday, I'm impossibly far behind. **Note to self: Suck it up and deal with it next time**

I wish I had some cleverly worded antic dotes to put in here, but sadly, I don't. Nothing new really happened (that was good anyway).

Sorry to be in such a pissy mood. If you went through my day though, I think you would understand. Everything went from bad to worse. But that's a typical Monday for you. I loathe Monday's. (Reference previous blog)

Apologies again for the pissy mood, and for the extremely short blog. I promise to try to be in a better mood tomorrow.

I Want Another Day Off...and the Boy Scouts Just Got a Heck of A Lot Better

I took a day off Friday, and it was the best thing ever. No crabby/boring people to deal with, no work to worry about, just a day to sleep in, eat junk food, and not care.

But alas, all good things come to an end.

Monday is tomorrow. Monday is evil. I loathe Monday's.

For my interesting news today, I just read that the Boy Scouts plan to begin to hand out condom's to their troops in support for their one motto of "Be prepared."

The Scout Association claims to do this because they want to acknowledge the issue of under-age sex, and they want their older troops to feel comfortable to talk about sex with their parents.

The parents are complaining that this will encourage them to have more sex, which will lead to more teen pregnancies.

I'm not sure on where I stand on this. Do you help give valuable information to the teens, or do you honor the age old tradition and believe that if you don't inform them, they'll gain interest in other things? I think that teens should know all the information they can about sex, but I also know that for some of them, this will just encourage it. Not all, but some. And I understand that joining the Scouts is supposed to be a way to keep them away from dangerous activities, but I can say that I know few people who avoid things like sex, drugs and alcohol all together, and some of the people that do these things are in Scouts or similar activities, so they clearly don't keep them from it. Is it better to give them things that they might need, or hope they don't do these things?

Thoughts and opinions? Leave some comments! :]

New Toy

My new camera came today! I'm absolutely in love with it. I still haven't figured out how to do everything yet, but I'm still really excited. Now I can at least take three pictures and not have to worry about my camera dieing.

The weather outside is absolutely perfect now. I'm trying to convince the boyfriend to go on a walk through the park with me, but to him this is equal to torture. Time to use the always trusty puppy-dog eyes on him.

I have an impossibly large amount of homework this weekend. Anatomy is definitely not how I planned on spending my weekend, but at least I'll have something to do while all the guys play video games (and they wonder why I'm always bored :P).

In other news, I went to a local pizza/ice cream place today. I've been in there three times in the past month, each time asking for a cookie dough blizzard, which is just a huge hunk of cookie dough mixed into ice cream, but its soooo good. Each time, they keep saying they've "lost the cookie dough." How on earth do you lose cookie dough? Does it just wander off when it feels like it? Needless to say, not the most intelligent people working there.

I'll probably have a better post later, but just figured I'd put in an update. Again, sorry for not having many, its been a busy week. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

No More Plastics

I know that this relates to a topic that I've already talked about, but I'm going to talk about it anyway, just because I can.

During one of my many nights where I was bored to the point that my brain was numb, I began to channel surf. It was when I was doing this that I came across the two most unnatural people known to man.

They have a segment on the show Dr. 90210 about this man and woman who have each had over 30 plastic surgery procedures done. Over 30! Who does that?

The woman looked like a deformed Barbie doll. The man looked like a feminine elf off of Lord of the Rings.

I want to know why these people decided to do this. I'm sure there has to be better things they can spend their time and money on. Is there self esteem really that low, or are they just that bored that all they can think to occupy their empty time is surgical procedures?

As for my question to all of you, would you ever get plastic surgery done? Are there circumstances (besides life threatening ones) where it can be okay? Share some thoughts and perspectives :]

It's been too long

Sorry that it has been so long since I've posted something. A birthday leaves someone very busy. Yes, I'm officially one year older (though not necessarily wiser) as of Sunday. Also, a Happy Birthday wish to Sarah!

This has probably been the best birthday to date. I was supposed to go over to the boyfriends house Friday, but he called and said I couldn't come over for a bit. He wouldn't tell me where he was going, which of course left me suspicious of him doing some birthday shopping. As usual, I was right. He got me one of those digital frames that puts slide shows of you pictures on it. Well, he also got me a cake, and after giving me a piece (Oreo cake = fantastic), he decided he wanted to figure out how the frame worked. Well I was not going to be denied my cake, so I let him hook everything up. As it turns out, he had already figured out how to use it and pictures of us on it. So sweet!

I also got The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD (I love that movie, though I'm not sure why), a big basket full of perfume (a girl can never have too much of that) slippers (uber comfy) and the traditional, yet always welcome money. Aaaand I still get to pick out a camera. Fantastic birthday.

Anyway, now that all of that is over with, I'm going to try to get back to posting daily, but no promises. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Two Days of Bliss

My weekend was fantastic. Not in the sense that I did a lot of fantastic things, but I enjoyed myself and finally relaxed for the first time in what felt like forever.

Friday I further mastered my cooking skills by once again, cooking chicken. One of my tasters even raved that it tasted like KFC, which made my night. Staying up late and watching television was even deeply enjoyed.

Saturday, I got to grocery shop, which to many people is a living hell, but I find it particularly fun. I don't know why. I guess I've always viewed it as an adventure ever since I was little, where it was a treat to get to go grocery shopping and pick out sugary snacks that me and my brother liked. Later that nice, the boyfriend came back and made dinner for me (Chicken Alfredo...it was amazing). If that weren't sweet enough, I even got to have control of the remote that night, which rarely ever happens. I also became addicted to french vanilla cappuccino. I had originally really really wanted pumpkin spice cappuccino, and it was good, but too sweet. A few sips and I was done.

Sunday, I watch Donnie Darko. Weirdest movie I've ever seen. It's so strange and poorly made, but it kept me captivated all the same. I was constantly back and forth between laughing at how stupid some of the parts were to asking "What the hell just happened? What does that mean?" I then got to visit some friends that I hardly ever see, and it turns out I get to hang out them all this weekend too. How's that for a birthday present?

But, like always, Sunday night came, I had to say my good byes, and prepare myself for the always dreaded Monday. Turns out it wasn't too bad though. Let's just hope the rest of the week can be the same way ;]

The Love Guru

For some unknown reason, my friends have always come to me first when needing relationship advice. This happened again today, and I realized that some of my advice contradicts itself.

There's the ancient advice that when in a relationship, the couple needs to compromise. I completely and totally agree with this. You give, you take. If the person is worth keeping, then you should be able to give up something to show how much they mean to you.

But of course, there's the other ancient advice that you shouldn't have to change for anyone. This is where it gets tricky. I agree that a person should love you for you. You shouldn't have to look a certain way or do certain things so the person stays with you. But if you always did what you wanted, there would never be any compromise, and I know a relationship without compromise can't work either.

So where do you draw the line? Do you stay how you are and say "If you love me, this is how it's gonna be?" or do you each give in a little? Do you change them a bit, or do you accept the flaw? Such a dilemma. Share some thoughts :]

Men Win Again

A disturbing and growing trend is occurring between students and teachers. It seems that many teachers find it appropriate to sleep with one, or many, of their students.

Why is it when people learn about this, time female teachers are sick and disgusting, but when the male teachers do it a lot of people don't like it, but many have responses like "Yeah, he got some nice young ass!" Men are always encouraged when they sleep with women, especially if they're significantly older or younger than them. With women, you're always a whore. Even if you've been dating a guy for awhile, you're still a whore.

Getting back to the main topic, I don't understand why there is a sudden rise in teachers doing this. People are supposed to come into this job wanting to be good educators, not get some from their students.

Back in 7th grade, I had a teacher sort of like this. On the day of a test, the girls would just wear a low cut shirt or a short skirt, and ta da, instant A plus. Back then, we thought it was cool because we could get good grades really easily. Looking back on it, it's extremely creepy. I mean, this guy was really old and most of the girls were about 12 or so. It's pretty repulsive.

So for the question of the day, have you ever had a teacher hit on you, or try to go a bit far? And what are your thoughts on the massive amounts of teachers that do it today?

You are exactly my brand of heroin

This weekend is just what I needed. The past week has been so stressful, and spending time goofing off with the boyfriend is just what the doctor ordered.

Anytime I need to relax, or need someone there to just listen, he's always there, and I love him for it. He puts up with way more bitching than necessary (not that I haven't put up with my fair share of it too :P ). Words can't explain how thankful I am to have a person like him around.

Before I start to get all mushy and obsessive, I'm going to move on to a new topic. I'm finally getting the art of cooking down, well chicken anyway, and I'm pretty proud of myself. I can finally move past the instant food. I've always been pretty good at baking, but cooking is another thing entirely.

Okay, now on to the fun part: complaining. I don't understand why people insist on spending tons of money on one article of clothing. Treating yourself is one thing. Everyone deserves to treat themselves now and again. But I know people who won't buy things unless they're some name brand like Hollister or Abercrombie and Fitch and cost 50 dollars and up. I admit, I own some clothes from places like these, but everything I got from there came off of a sales rack, and I didn't get it because of the brand, I got it because I liked it and it was comfortable. For some of these other people, the term "sales rack" is equivalent to "the plague". Why spend the extra money if you can get similar things elsewhere or at half the price? I makes no sense to me.

That's all the ranting I'll do for now, but I'm sure there will be something later as the boyfriend is staying the rest of the night and I'll have new things to talk about. Comments and subscriptions are fantastic :]

I am NOT a Barbie doll

Every man's supposed fantasy is a tall skinny blond with big boobs. A lot of people, especially if you go by Hollywood's standards, consider this to be the ultimate beauty. If you have an average sized body, darker hair, or a little short? Forget it. Oh sure, they'll call you pretty, but not in the same way they think these other women are. And I'm sick of it. I'm NOT a Barbie, and I don't want to be. I like the way I look. The fact that I have to change the way my body looks for anyone to feel better about myself is absolutely ridiculous.

It seems every girl I talk to wants to change their hair, or their body, in some way. Which would be fine if they were doing it for themselves, but when I ask why the sudden change, the reply always comes back, "Oh so and so has hair like that", or "I think this person would like me more if I did this." I just feel like slapping them and saying "Can you hear yourself? Why are you doing this just to please them?"

I know I can be accused of doing this before, but now I look back at it and think, what the hell was going on in my head? Anything I do now, I do it because I want to do it, or at least I try to. Sometimes I believe I'm doing it for myself and later when I think about it, it wasn't about me at all. I'm going to try to stop doing that. If I feel uncomfortable with something, it's up for me to decide, not somebody else. I don't want to be another one of the Paris Hilton look alikes.

I also shamefully admit that I've asked other people to do something's to change too. This is another thing I want to avoid doing. There is a difference between being asked an opinion about doing something before they do it though. But it's not always necessary to put your two cents in where it wasn't asked for.

So, my question today is, have you ever changed something for someone? Why? And, if you feel like putting even more of your story out there, what was it?

Time to Break Out the Fuzzy Socks

I'm sitting here at my computer typing this with three layers on, thick fuzzy socks, and a cat on my lap, all to keep warm.

I love days like today. Overcast, chilly, pretty leaves everywhere....the only thing that could make it better would be snow, but it's still a bit early for that. Maybe some rain. That would be nice. Rainy weather is also a favorite.

In other news, no headache today, which made me very happy. I think it's because I refused to let myself get stressed out. Whenever something bad happened, I reminded myself of how close the weekend was. That may not have been the best thing to do since it resulted in me not giving a damn about the bad/stressful/stupid thing I was doing and I ultimately didn't get anything done today. And I suppose some people thought I was crazy when I kept chanting "One more day, one more day" under my breath. I don't care. It worked.

As a second topic for today, the teacher's at my school are supposedly on the brink of striking. I'm not holding my breath. They've gone 90-some days without a contract, and 20-some without further negotiations, but I think each side is trying to scare the other side into either accepting lower wages or a strike, depending on which side you're on. Like I said, I'm not holding my breath. Of course, all the football players are freaking out because if they strike, they forfeit the game for that week. Not like it matters anyway. Our record is like 2-6. Not exactly going to any championships anytime soon.

That's all I have for now, though since I posted this rather early, at least compared to times I usually post, I might end up with another one later. Comments and subscriptions are lovely :]

2 More Days

This has been the longest week ever. I say that every week, but I swear, each week gets longer than the last.

I recently started getting these massive headaches once I get home from school, and I have no idea what causes them. At first I thought my contacts were the culprit because I couldn't see as well out of them as I used to, so I tried to wear my glasses, but that didn't work either. Once one of them hits, it hurts so bad that I have to lay down and I don't feel like moving ever ever again, but eventually my (constantly) growling stomach forces me to get up in search of food. At least there's only two more week days, then the weekend, which are the only two days I look forward too, because I finally just get that time to breath, and I get to see the lovely boyfriend, which is always a major bonus.

But in better news, it's officially October, which means my birthday is just around the corner (woo!!!). I love this time of year, though not just because my birthday is coming up, but I will admit it's a definite perk. I just love everything about the fall. The temperature, the leaves, etc. I always look forward to fall and winter and just wish I could fast forward through spring and summer every year (I hate the heat).

Other than that, I have nothing new to report or philosophical ideas to discuss today. Just another boring day in the neighborhood.

Love or Respect?

In a recent poll, research showed that when a group of people were asked whether they would rather be loved or respected, the general results came back that many of the men would rather be respected while many of the women would rather be loved.

Now I know there's that whole "without respect there can never be love" bit, and the "if you love someone you do respect them", but suppose you could only have one or the other. Which would you choose?

I think women choose love because we always have these need to feel wanted by someone. We want to know that we matter and that someone considers us important enough to care. Many women in relationships end up taking the backseat and letting the man control many things anyway, so I don't think it would be as hard for them to give up respect as it would be for a man. As a result many women get pushed around just so another person will "love" them.

Men always need to feel dominant, or at least that's how I perceive it. They crave authority and power, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. They just end up being too stubborn to give in on most things because they always have to be right. (I too am definitely guilty of this.) The problem always comes when they decide to abuse the power, or never share the power on occasion.

So, as my question of the day, which would you rather have, if only given the chance to have one or the other? Love or respect?

I Don't Understand

I don't understand the problem that the world has with the gay community. I personally see nothing wrong with it, and it baffles me that some people oppose it so strongly.

The reason this came up is because I was out on a walk tonight and I bumped into some family friends. We started talking and of course the regular topic of school came up. Their son, who is my age, goes to a local career center, and another student from our school who also goes there, and happens to be gay, was mentioned. Upon hearing his name, the one person begins his complaining on "Oh that over the top gay guy. What's he going for, cosmetology? I can't believe he thinks he's gay." Now, this guy he is talking about happens to be a friend of mine, but I'm not complaining about it just because of that. I just don't understand why everyone finds it so offensive. None of them try to convert the rest of society into being gay. They don't cause any problems. They just wish to live their lives as they want to, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Some people may argue a religious stand point and say that God never intended it to be that way. Well, God is supposed to be forgiving of your sin's, if you could even call it that, so once again, why is it so bad? If you ask me, there are worse things a person could do than be gay.

Another popular topic is the "Don't ask, Don't tell". Another thing that I disagree with. They want them to fight, but fight for what? Rights that they don't have? Ugh.

I Always Change My Mind

Okay, I know I said I was not going to go on and on about my thoughts, blurting out everything about me like you are a therapist, and ultimately making you a shoulder to cry on. But, I said I wouldn't do that on my other blog. Which is why I now made a new one.

This one shall contain everything I consider blog-worthy( which most of you probably won't agree with me), and most likely mainly consist of me babbling. Of course, I still plan on keeping up on my other blog, I've just been really busy and haven't had time to read much, though I did find what book I'm going to be blogging about.

So stay tuned, and subscribe!
