The Good, the Bad, and the Irish

I had my first eye appointment in a year and a half today, and I now remember why I detested going so much in the first place. After about asking me 50 different questions of "Is this one better? Or this one?", pulling my eyes open, and asking me a bunch of questions the doctor already knew the answers to, I just felt like ripping my eyes out. To top it off, he thought I had glaucoma, so he put these yellow drops in my eyes that made them feel like they were sticky and at any moment be glued shut. Why, of all the things to inherit from my parents, do I get bad eyes? Ugh.

In other news, for the past week I've had an Irish woman at my house. At first it was very awkward and hard to understand her, but I've grown accustomed to having her here, and even think of myself as an Irish accent translator. The extra cool thing is, there may be a chance that I get to go to Ireland this summer. How awesome would that be?

And for the sad (not really) news. I've decided not to do the A-Z thing anymore. (yes boyfriend, you were right) (and no, you may not rub it in my face) Sorry, to all of you who actually like it, if any of you did. If so leave a comment to bring it back and I just might. But that's about all I had today, so leave some comments about your terrible doctor experiences, or your travels, or just life in general. 'Till next time. :]

Old Hearts

Okay, while going through some old files on my computer today, I came across part of a book that I was inspired to write way back in the day (i.e. 7th grade). The book was titled Random Nothingness, and the entire thing was made up of just that, nothingness. But since one of the parts of the book was about Valentine's Day, I figured I'd share my past writing with you. Now keep in mind, this isn't really how I feel about Valentine's anymore, mainly because of the boyfriend, and that I was about...ehhh, 13 or 14 when I wrote this. Enjoy :]

February 14, The Day Cupid Died
Okay, can someone please explain to me the big deal of Valentine's Day? Is it just a Commercial holiday like everyone says, or is it actually a day for celebrating your love/lust with someone else? Anyway, whoever came up with the idea must be making a killing. Wilted flowers, stuffed possessed-looking animals, and boxes of cheap chocolate in packages that are in the shapes of hearts seem to be everywhere. Not to mention the colors red and pink. You can't escape. I guarantee that every store you go to will be like that. I'm sure that we weren't always this obsessed with it. But now they're programming us at an early age to start buying valentine cards and to waste our money on useless things that will most likely be thrown away as soon as that person gets home. In kindergarten they make you buy valentines for the whole class, but unless your valentine has candy on/with it, it will immediately be discarded. They still make you buy cards for everyone throughout elementary school, but as you get older the bigger or prettier ones go to the people you secretly like or are trying to get in good with so you can either be A.) popular, or B.) have a good word put in for you toward your crush (ex. You give a cute kitten card to your victims, I mean crushes sibling or friend, so that way they might comment on it toward them.) I just find the whole holiday to be a waste of time and money. That is unless I am the one receiving this stuff. Otherwise all it does is make people crazy. Like if you think this guy has been eying you in class and in the halls, and your really excited because you get yourself thinking that he is gonna give you something, then your really disappointed on V-day (or in this case D-day) because it turns out that he had a girlfriend and you ended up with squat and you spend the whole day crying, upset, or just totally distracted. Or your the one with the boyfriend and he forgets or doesn't get you anything and again you end up spending the day crying or upset or totally distracted. Maybe V-day isn't all that upsetting, it's just that the guy's make it that way. This might be an interesting factor to study. Note to self: be sure to send in Valentine Day Massacre theory to a major University, like Harvard or something. Ah well, that is all I had to mention for the moment. I'll be sure to get back to you on another totally pointless subject soon. Chat to you later.

Here Comes the Sun

I'm so excited about the lovely warm temperatures that are now hitting Ohio. The ice is melting, which means I can walk again, and I can stop wearing 5 layers of clothing everyday. Though on the downside, this means I have nothing to wear since its soon going to be too warm for hoodies, and unlike the usual girl, I hate to shop. Usually I wouldn't be this happy about winter ending since winter used to easily be my favorite season, but there never seems to be any more snow when winter comes, just freezing temperatures. How can you build a snowman, go sled riding, have a snowball fight in weather that reaches a whopping -25 degrees?

Though I don't know what I'm getting my hopes up for. This happens every year. It begins to get a little warm out and everyone starts dressing in shorts and t-shirts though it only goes up to about 50 degrees, then the last huge cold/snowstorm of the year hits, and they're left freezing their butts off, which will probably include me.

Anyway, today is the day to talk about all things "B". So Bloggers, let us Begin....

Barack Obama - Our new president. Now, I don't really have much to say when it comes to politics, because I can never seem to keep up with it, or understand it for that matter, and writing about the president right now is no different. Instead of ranting and raving about his views, policies, etc. I'm going to share a story concerning his presidency.
Okay, I belong to this group that once a week gets together with a bunch of little kids, in about first grade, and we do things with them, like make cards for valetines, ornaments for Christmas, and so on. Well, we met the week before inauguration, and discussed Barack Obama, who he was and why he was making history. When we were leaving, one of my friends asked one of the little kids what he thought about Barack being president. The little kid responded that he wanted John McCain to win. When asked why, the kid responded that he hated black people. Now I know it's probably his parents view, not his, but the fact that they're raising their kid to hate someone because of the color of their skin just makes me want to scream. The kid is in first grade, he doesn't know any better, but his parents do. Why would you teach your kids to live this way?

Boston Terriers - On a lighter note, I love Boston Terriers. This happens to be the kind of dog I have, and I couldn't ask for a more well behaved and entertaining dog. She snorts 90% of the time when she's breathing and she hops when she gets excited. She also thinks she's the size of a Great Dane. I love my little dog.

Blood - Since I mentioned arachnaphobia in my last post, I figured I'd post about one of my own fears. I cannot stand the site of blood. I pass out, get light headed, or get sick. I don't even like to hear the word blood most of the time. Needless to say, health class was an interesting adventure for me.

Books - I'm hopelessly addicted to reading. Books have always been a big part of my life ever since I was old enough to start going to the library (which is conveiniently just dont the street from me). My favorite books include The Catcher in the Rye, Speak, the Twilight series, Water for Elephants, This Lullaby, Paint it Black, White Oleander....the list goes on and on.

Baking - Another one of my favorite hobbies. I've tried my hand at cooking, and while my food tastes fine, I wouldn't say that I'm really good at it. Baking however, I'm slowly learning to master. My cake decorating skills are freaking amazing, and don't even try to beat my chocolate chip cookies. And the best part is, after I have the fun of making it, I get to have fun eating it too.

Well, that's the exciting blog for today. Leave some comment's about my B items, or make some of your own :]

Miss A-Z

All right, I have a major test tomorrow that has been causing me nothing but headaches. I have to memorize and know the function of all the muscles in the human body, and let me tell you, I want to put my head through a wall. It would be more productive than me trying to memorize all this crap. So I'm taking a break and not looking at it for awhile. Anatomy can kiss my gluteus maximus.

Okay, so Tia gave me a little bit of inspiration today. She wrote a blog about ten things starting with the letter "L", and the idea of trying to write about things that could only start with a certain letter seemed intriguing, so I've decided that I'm going to try the same thing, only I'm going to use all 26 letters of the alphabet and only have 5 items for each word. So, here goes nothing.

Astrology - This is something that I'm on the fence with. Some days my horoscope couldn't seem to be more right. Other days, it has the worst prediction in the world. Some people say its fake, others believe in it, and I'm still undecided. Though I will always believe Libra's are the coolest :] (*ahem* like me).

Arachnophobia - Now don't get me wrong, I dislike spiders as much as any normal person, but I find it greatly entertaining when a person begins to scream over a spider smaller than a fingernail. Though maybe I shouldn't talk since I always have to have someone kill the spider for me. But you have to give me credit, I (usually) don't scream.

Alexis Bledel - As far as acting is concerned, definitely not the best out there, but the fact that she's on Gilmore Girls and dated Milo Vetimiglia for awhile gives her a gold star in my book.

Apples - Yes, this A word is kind of stupid, but I'd thought I'd mention that I loooove apples. It's really the only fruit I like. Apple pie, apple dumplings, apple cider, apple juice, applesauce. You just can't go wrong.

Alice in Wonderland - Now I dont know what movies everyone else watched as a kid, but I really loved Disney's version of Alice in Wonderland, even if the Cheshire cat gave me nightmares. Not to mention the character Alice in a certain other book I love...*ahem* Twilight....

Yes, that is my pathetic attempt at my first letter blog. Any topics you'd like to discuss that start with the letter A? Leave it in a comment :]

My Carrie Bradshaw Moment

So this blog is coming to you via laptop, which makes me feel very professional, and ultimately very Carrie Bradshaw like. For those of you not in the know, Carrie Bradshaw is the main character of Sex and the City, a journalist who is constantly typing away at her laptop. This makes me feel like I should be talking about the latest fashion trends, or the latest sex-capades of my friends. But I won't talk about that since I'm not really into fashion trends, and my friends sex life, is, well, nonexistent. Mother Theresa probably saw more action than they do.

So the boyfriend had a very nice surprise for me today. I come home, get some stuff done, go to the library, read some, take a nap, and expect to do nothing but study for the rest of the night. Eventful, right? Well, at about 6:30 I get a call from the boyfriend telling me that he's taking me out tonight. Well, I had a lot of rather important studying to do, but since this is a rare occasion, how could I say no? I had a lovely meal, even better company, and to top it off, I got candy after wards. What can honestly be better than that?

Well, that's about the only interesting thing that has happened for today, and since I must sadly be heading home soon, this is goodbye until a later post. So as a question for you to answer, what is the best surprise anyone has given you?

People These Days...

So I'm writing this blog out of boredom and because I have to wait for some hot water to come back since my brother found it necessary to take a thirty minute shower. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Okay, so my first two complaints today go out to our lovely Miss Mother Nature. It seems that all the snow that had accumulated last week decided to melt today, which would have been fine, had it not all frozen over tonight when the temperatures dropped. This means I'll be ice skating instead of walking when I go out for my usual walking escapade.

The second complaint occurs because last week, the ever-trusty weatherman stated that we were to receive about a foot of snow this week, which of course I was happy about. There is nothing better than being snowed in. (Plus it would cover up all that slippery ice.) But it turns out mother nature decided to play a cruel joke and have this wonderful blizzard skip over my little town. Instead of a foot of snow, I'll be lucky to get an inch. Excuse me while I try to contain my enthusiasm.

Third complaint goes to the boyfriend. He finally agreed to read Twilight (yes ladies, it is possible) ((and no I don't think its gay)). So he brings it over with him today to read, and when I look at the cover, it had some sort of gunk all over it. This is possibly one of the worst crimes to commit. Defacing a book is one thing, but defacing a Twilight book?! Are you out of your mind?!
Thankfully, I saved the masterpiece and spared the cover of looking like it just crawled out of a garbage can. Another day, another book saved. No need to thank me people, really.

Well, that's about it for my joyous news of the day. Any crappy weather predicaments in your neck of the woods? Or just complaints in general? Comment it folks :]
